Experience
Amos Hartsell, OTR/L, CHT has over thirteen years of experience in the specialized care of upper extremity rehabilitation, which includes shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands.
After completing all required clinical studies and examinations, Amos earned the distinguished Certified Hand Therapist designation in May of 2021. The CHT credential shows that he has achieved the highest level of competency in the upper limb rehabilitation profession.
Prior to receiving this high honor and opening his own outpatient clinic in Alexandria, he worked alongside numerous orthopedic surgeons and also developed a hand program in southeast Washington for a prestigious orthopedic group. He then specialized in hand therapy for Twin Cities Orthopedics (TCO), personally working alongside 10 orthopedic and hand specialty surgeons. Amos has vast expertise in traumatic hand injury rehab as well as common repetitive work-related and general injuries. He received specific shoulder rehabilitation training in Seattle, WA and complex hand, wrist and elbow training in Baltimore, MD.
Amos has his Master’s in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Dakota, with specialized hand therapy training at the Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in Northfield, MN.
Area of Focus
Amos specializes in conditions and injuries that occur from the neck to the fingertip. He has specific, advanced training in the custom fabrication of splints/orthoses. He also has extensive training in scar and wound management.
Amos has a special interest in traumatic injuries and chronic pain issues.
Personal Life
Amos is an avid sportsman and loves working with sports-related injuries. He is an Alexandria native who returned with his family to provide much-needed specialty care to the area. He and his wife, Kendra, love having the opportunity to raise their four kids – Vivian, Vera, Rudy and Ruth — among the lakes of their hometown. When they’re not driving around to various local sports and activities, their family loves to enjoy the beautiful seasons and fascinating wildlife that Minnesota has to offer.
